    Hong Kong Bar Association Visits SCIA

    On January 25 2024, Victor Dawes SC, Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association, led a delegation of Hong Kong barristers to visittheShenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA)at the SCIA Tower in Qianhai Shenzhen, where they met with ShenSibao,Chairman of the SCIA Council, and Liu Xiaochun, President of the SCIA.


    The two sides reviewed the more than 40 years of cooperation between the legal and business communities of Hong Kong and Chinese mainland in establishing international arbitration institution in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone since China’s reform and opening up, the role of the two places in promoting the convergence of rules and economic prosperity and stability, and the important role of Hong Kong barristers in the SCIA. Together, they also looked forward to the prospect of “Shenzhen + Hong Kong” to build an international arbitration center in the Greater Bay Area and an international arbitration hub in Asia in the new era of China’s reform and opening up.


    An Xin, Vice President of the SCIA, and Li Xiongfei, Deputy Secretary-General of SCIAHK, also attended the reception.
