    SCIA Presents at the California International Arbitration Week

    The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) made its mark at the 3rd California International Arbitration Week (CIAW) with a seminar titled “The Latest Developments of International Arbitration in China” on March 13, 2024.


    Dr. Liu Xiaochun, President of SCIA and Executive Chairman of the South China International Arbitration Center (HK) (SCIAHK), led the discussion with insights into “The Latest Developments in International Arbitration in China - from the Perspective of SCIA’s Reform.” Alongside, Huang Guoyong, Director of SCIA’s International Cooperation and Development Department and Director of the SCIA Jiangmen Center, elaborated on “SCIA Smart Arbitration.”while Peter Neumann, SCIA arbitrator and Managing Shareholder of Neumann PC, delved into the “Enforcement of Chinese Arbitration Awards in the USA”. Sun Wei, another SCIA arbitrator and Partner at Zhong Lun Law Firm, shed light on the “Enforcement of Foreign Arbitration Awards in China.” Mylene Chan, Visiting Faculty Member of the School of Transnational Law (STL) at Peking University, moderated the session.


    CIAW, organized by the California Lawyers Association Litigation Section in collaboration with California Arbitration (CalArb), drew attendees from legal and business communities across the U.S. and beyond.


    Before the opening of the seminar, the SCIA delegation met with Dana Welch, President of CalArb, Jeffery Daar, Vice-Chair of CalArb, and Marcus Salvato Quintanilla, Officer at Large of CalArb, to whom SCIA extended a warm invitation to attend the International Council for Commercial Arbitration 2024 Congress (ICCA 2024 Hong Kong) and its side event in Shenzhen to be held in May. Both parties reached a consensus to further strengthen the exchange and cooperation in international arbitration and effectively resolve international commercial disputes for businesses.
