Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance

The Guangdong, Hong Kong & Macao Arbitration & Mediation Alliance (formerly known as the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Commercial Mediation Alliance", hereinafter referred to as the "Alliance") is an arbitration and mediation cooperation platform that was founded on December 7, 2013 in Qianhai, Shenzhen under the lead of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (the South China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission). Fifteen major commercial arbitration and mediation institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao serve as the standing members of the Alliance. By coordinating commercial arbitration and mediation resources in the Greater Bay Area, the Alliance aims to strengthen business exchanges and cooperation between the commercial arbitration and mediation institutions and improve the dispute resolution services in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao by providing diversified, professional, efficient and harmonious dispute resolution services. Since its establishment, the Alliance has been adhering to the principle of "equality, openness, and cooperation" and has embraced the innovative idea of "independent mediation+independent arbitration" when resolving cross-border commercial disputes for parties. So far, the parties involved in mediation cases have connections with 119 countries.

The Alliance is a pioneer in developing the Greater Bay Area and is also an integral part of the efforts to improve the market-based and internationalized business environment under the rule of law in the Greater Bay Area. The chairman of the Alliance is elected from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in turns every two years. The first, second, and third chairmen were from the members of Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macao respectively. The Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, as the executive vice chairman, is responsible for the daily work of the Secretariat.
